Crystal Visions

Well I'm still unpacking my art gear and sorry to say no pages. I'm really beginning to see the flaw behind the mobile app I use to make Crystal Visions (I'm on android).  It's good for the coloring but not so much for lettering and post corrections.  

Oh well here is an update on the next phase of the comic.

I'm in the process of moving. I don't have access to my comic making tools since they are in boxes by now.. I'll update the comic next week.  There are two pages left for this half of the story.  That means next week will be a two page update. I'll also make fixes to the font quality of the last two pages to make everything clean. 

 

Just a quick update. I haven't left this story to complete indefinite hiatus.  I have accepted that my reality of this is the pace I am able to create the comic for the time being.  I really was a little hard on myself over the fact that I wasn't drawing fast enough without considering my life's responsibilities. So, I'm going to be kinder to myself. 

I am working on a 10 page buffer and adapting the story to match the time I have available.  It's the best solution I can think of at the moment to increase the frequency of uploads.  A lot of character dialog will be cut in favor of getting to the point quickly after this last set of 10 pages. 


 

Thus comic will be going on an indefinite hiatus while I work on becoming a better, faster artist and story teller. 

 

I am realy slow at updating this comic. I though if I spend the time to learn a different coloring technique that it would speed up my production. While I learned a few new tricks, the only thing I accomplished was drawing and coloring at the same speed in a different way.  Oh well, I tried and now I know.  Here is a preview of next week's update. 

For the month of  August I took a three-week break. I could not move or sleep very well after delivering a baby. I decided to take it easy and focus on my health and baby. The fourth week I started thumbnailing.  

I am in the process of thumbnailing the final pages for Crystal Visions. In the past, I worked on the pages in batches at a time. For example, I would do 8 pages and then post and start the process over again. I am still doing the same strategy but this time I want to get all the thumbnails done. The reason why I work that way is because it is the best way for me to manage my time. My other responsibilities in life keep me busy and there are times when I must give those responsibilities my full attention.  

Why don’t I just finish the story all at once and just be done with it? Well, that is simple. I have a short attention span. I treat the moments when I must shift my attention away from the comic as a break from working on one thing. I find that once I am done, I can get back into creating with more enthusiasm. My goal while on maternity with the comic is to get as many full pages done for a continuous buffer with more page updates. 

I have a big announcement I gave birth to my second child last month. I will be taking a 3-month hiatus to heal, recover and adapt to the new addition to my family.
